Since moving to Hobe Sound in 2002, Barricade Gel has been on fire.

The company, headed by professional firefighters president John Bartlett and vice president Bruce Hill, has been growing as they save homes and businesses worldwide from destruction.  The company’s product is able to withstand any type of fire, even several days after it is applied, while being environmentally safe and easy to remove once the threat of fire subsides.  With products on fire trucks across the US, including Martin and St. Lucie counties, and in several countries, the sales potential is enormous.

In fact, the company’s success during the widespread western fire season has garnered them media interest.  Good Morning America is going to feature the company on Monday, August 2, and they have been on Dateline and in People Magazine in the past few years.  While many remember the company because Bartlett had noticed baby diapers always seemed to survive fires and then found out why as he made his first formula, homeowners in Port St. Lucie and Melbourne remember Barricade because only their patented gel kept homes from burning as fires raged through neighborhoods in the past few years.

The success of the company has led to several honors.  The company will receive the Quarterly Business Achievement Award from the BDB at their August board meeting.  President John Bartlett commented, “It’s an honor to be named the business achievement award winner, but the credit goes to my incredibly talented staff, who do an incredible amount of work when fire season breaks out in a short amount of time.”

The BDB also nominated the company for the 2004 Governor’s Business Innovation Award, the winner of which will be announced later this year.  Bartlett added ““We are thrilled to be nominated and appreciate our nomination by the BDB.  We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase our product here in Florida, and hope to continue saving homes and businesses in the years ahead.”
