Martin County Targeted Companies Receive Coveted Governor's Business Diversification Awards

The Business Development Board of Martin County (BCBMC) today received word that four (4) Martin County companies are recipients of the 2010 Governor’s Business Diversification Awards, a statewide program that recognizes Florida companies in emerging and high-technology industries for their contributions to Florida’s economic growth.  Coordinated by Enterprise Florida, the awards presentation is held by the Governor annually during Florida’s Industry Appreciation Week (September 20-24, 2010) in Tallahassee.

 
Sheet Metal Unlimited, an affiliate of Waterblasting Technologies, expands in Martin County

The Business Development Board of Martin County is pleased to announce the expansion of Sheet Metal Unlimited, a general fabrication and machine shop partly owned by James Crocker, CEO of Waterblasting Technologies and Jose Guch, the company’s president. The company, which currently employs 22, has entered into a lease-purchase agreement for space located at 3920 SE Commerce Street as part of the expansion.

UCT Coatings, Inc. Establishes World-Class Facility

STUART, FL (July 29, 2010) – The Business Development Board of Martin County is pleased to announce the expansion of UCT Coatings, Inc.  The company is hiring 38 new employees and expanding into a 45,000 square foot space in Sands Commerce Center of 42nd Avenue in Palm City.  UCT offers metal finishing solutions to a wide variety of mid and top-tier manufacturers, marketplaces, and the US Government, with both a domestic and international customer base. The new, world-class facility will be operational in early 2011.

 
BDBMC Executive Director Ron Bunch Appointed to FEDC Board of Directors

STUART, FL (June 16, 2010) - Ron Bunch, Executive Director of the Business Development Board of Martin County, has been appointed to the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) Board of Directors. FEDC has promoted economic development in the state of Florida since 1964. It is a primary resource for policy development, legislative updates, education, networking and professional advancement. Bunch's term begins July 1, 2010.

Old Cell Phone Co. Adding 863 Jobs in Palm City

The Business Development Board of Martin County announces the expansion of Old Cell Phone Co. (OCP). The company recently expanded into 20,000 square feet in Sands Commerce Center on SW Martin Highway in Palm City. OCP plans to add 863 jobs in the next 36 months, with over 450 of those projected for 2010, and invest over $600,000 in taxable property and capital improvements to the facility.
