STUART, FL (August 8, 2011) – The Business Development Board of Martin County is pleased to announce that Armando Pimentel, Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of NextEra Energy, will be the keynote speaker at the organization’s annual Business Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, September 16 at Mariner Sands Country Club.

The BDBMC’s annual Business Appreciation Luncheon is part of the statewide celebration to honor Florida’s businesses during Industry Appreciation Week.  The event celebrates the many contributions of local, existing companies from various targeted sectors.  These companies provide quality jobs, expand the local tax base and, due to the contributory nature of their business, help drive positive economic activity in virtually all sectors of our local economy.  As a result of their sales outside Martin County, they import dollars to the local economy, which then circulate throughout our community and support jobs in many other local businesses.

Armando Pimentel is executive vice president, finance and chief financial officer of NextEra Energy, Inc., one of the nation's leading electricity-related services companies and parent of FPL, the largest electric utility in Florida. He was elected CFO in May 2008. He previously served as vice president of finance for NextEra Energy.

Prior to joining NextEra Energy, Mr. Pimentel was a senior partner in the regulatory and public policy group at Deloitte & Touche. Previously, he held audit partner positions for clients in the financial services and energy industries, and led Deloitte's power and utilities segment.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Pimentel was the partner in charge of Deloitte's accounting research department in the firm's national office. From 1996 to 1998, he worked in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as a professional accounting fellow. Mr. Pimentel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Florida State University.
