The county's new-found ability to provide financial incentives to
prospective and expanding businesses, which then are required to create a
certain number of jobs at specific salary levels, is suddenly enabling
the Business Development Board of Martin County to compete, at a higher
level, for economic development projects. |

existed. To offset that, board members worked with the Martin County Business
Development Board and business leaders to identify seven sectors that
could offer future careers locally. They chose: alternative energy; life
sciences and health; information technology and digital media;
environmental science; education; finance, and the arts. |
